Statement from Director and Writer, Madeleine Hicks Writing and directing Fairy Floss has been one of the greatest joys of my creative career. I've loved every moment of telling this story with this talented group of collaborators, who have brought humor and heart to this process every day.

The story of Fairy Floss, while playful and imaginative, is also deeply sincere in its call for acceptance and inclusion. We've shifted culturally into this dangerous, divisive political climate where bigotry and harmful rhetoric around the queer community has become normalized. Our queer neighbors need you to speak up for them, vote with them, and make space for their stories - on the stage, in our libraries, and in our lives.

To live in the sugar spun world of Fairy Floss where queer love is represented and celebrated inside of this utopia has been a beautiful experience. And beyond that, it feels entirely possible. The Nashville I know and love is resilient, strong, and kind. We make small talk with the cashier at the grocery store. We volunteer to help our neighbors when natural disasters strike. We show up for each other, in ways both big and small. Together, we can make Nashville a sweeter place to live.

Cast & Crew

Seth Nathan Green is a problem. Indie rock, musical improv, tabletop role-playing games, musical theater, prescription drugs. Nothing has worked. He needs to be put down, but the no-kill shelter that is “the arts” refuses to do what needs doing.

Seth Nathan Green

Andrew is so grateful to be back on the Kindling stage. Previous credits include Alive, Magical Journey, Hairspray, and The Last Five Years. Huge thanks to Maddie, Kara and the rest of this wonderful team for giving me the opportunity to bring this neurotic, tense lil diva to life. I can’t imagine why yall thought of me…

Andrew Newton

Emma Supica

EMMA SUPICA (she/her) is an improviser, performer, and theater maker based in Nashville, TN. She’s the creator and director of “East Nashville Facebook Page: The Musical” which delights hundreds of audience members each August, and was proud to direct the mostly improvised, autobiographical sketch musical Seth Nathan Green Performs a One Person Show. She is a recurring cast member in Cherry Bomb: An Improvised Musical, and various Kindling Arts Festival performances including as Gonzo in the Muppet Christmas Special. Supica’s creative work often centers on playfulness, personal narrative, and discovery. She is the founding director of Unscripted, a nonprofit organization which uses improv to heal, empower, and connect the community.

Cammie York

Cammie loves dancin' around, singing, and wearing wigs so this show was a no-brainer for her. Cammie started her singing career as a child, her acting career in her teens, and began training in Improv and Sketch comedy at UCB Los Angeles in her twenties, which cost a lot of money. She is a studio vocalist on the side, and her voice is featured on a song in The Sims 4 game in the Simlish language and, no, she’s not making that up. It was really hard to do. She also has a background in video production & graphic design so she is obviously very rich. Cammie hates overhead lighting, loves the color orange, and her favorite movie is Beverly Hills Cop. She hopes you enjoy the crap out of Fairy Floss!!

Blake Holliday

Blake Holliday is a local Middle Tennessee actor with an unintentional penchant for performing in drag. Some of Blake's favorite past credits include Hedwig in HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, King Baby in BAR FIGHT, and Lil’ Lambchop in DEATH DROP. Blake is ecstatic to be back at Kindling working with such an extraordinary crew and to be a part of even more wonderful queer theatre!

Gabe Cyrus

Gabe Cyrus is a midwestern, cornfed idiot who just can’t hardly wait for you to see Fairy Floss! Gabe has garnered acting credits on stage and in film/TV/commercials over the past few years, and creates his own films with his production group: Big Dawg Films. He is represented by The Avenue Model & Talent Agency, and performs weekly at Third Coast Comedy Club - doing short form, long form, and musical improv.

Haley Johnson

Haley Johnson is a performer, producer, and writer with a passion for new and innovative theater. Director of Bubblegum Theater Company, she loves working with artists to bring their wildest ideas to life.

Christine Cordelia Copelan

Christine Cordelia Copelan (they/she) is a full-time writer, occasional performer, and frequent down-to-clown catch-all creative. Originally from East Tennessee, they’ve been making Nashville a little more queer since 2016—and they’re so stoked to be part of Fairy Floss!

Madeleine Hicks

Book Writer and Director
Madeleine Hicks is a Nashville based writer, director, and performer. She is a highly collaborative, multimedia artist with a focus on theater and filmmaking. She is currently on the film festival circuit with her debut feature, Sunshine Girls, which won Best Feature at Defy Film Festival and has upcoming screenings at Sick Chick Flicks Festival and the San Francisco Queer Festival.

Kara McLeland

Kara is a writer, director, and performer, though music was her very first creative love. After earning degrees in vocal performance and musicology, she taught college courses in music history and spent time as a radio host for Nashville’s former classical music station, 91Classical. Along the way, she has contributed original music, sound design, and music direction to a variety of Nashville stage and screen productions. Writing the music for Fairy Floss has been one of the biggest joys of her creative life!
